Art 1,2         Year Course
Grades 9-12    1 Credit

Art 1 will focus on drawing. This will develop drawing skills and techniques. One-point and two-point perspective will be taught. Media employed will be pencil, pen, and ink, pastels, charcoal, and mixed media. Art history and aesthetics will be part of the course.

 

Art 2 will focus on painting. The class will work with still life, landscape, and abstract art. Media available will be watercolor, tempera, acrylics, and mixed media. Art history and aesthetics will also be included.

Art 3-4       Grades 11-12
Year Course                                 1 Credit

In Art 3, the students work in the areas of printing, calligraphy, linoleum printing, painting and pencil drawing. Art history and aesthetics will also be taught. Pre-requisite is Art1 and Art 2

 

In Art 4,  the students will work with three dimensional and two dimensional projects.  Projects will be completed in clay, plaster, pencil, painting, water color, and printmaking.  Art history and aesthetics will be covered.  Pre-requisite is Art 1, Art 2, and Art 3.

Art 5      Year Course
Grade 12              1 Credit

This independent course is designed for seniors to create a student portfolio containing original artwork. Eight projects are required each semester. The projects will be designed and created by the student and approved by the teacher. Various media will be used, such as, watercolor paintings, acrylic paintings, wire sculpture, pencil drawings, colored pencil, graphic design, ceramics, printmaking, scratch art, etc. In addition, a pencil drawing will be due each week.

Band      Year Course
Grades 9-12        ½ credit
Band is a progressive course, relying on skills and knowledge gained in the implementation of musicianship with special attention to tone production, intonation, technique, balance and blend, dynamics, and more complicated rhythms. Students will experience a variety of musical styles through participation in music festivals, music contests, and concerts, pep band, marching band, and other organized programs. Pre-requisite is participation in the previous year in band except by audition.

Chorus       Year Course
Grades 9-12       ½ Credit
Chorus is an elective co-curricular course. An audition is required to determine a student’s proficiency level and placement to a particular voice part. Particular attention is given to counting of rhythms, tone production, balance, and proper use of the voice. Students will experience a variety of musical styles through participation in music festivals, music contests and concerts, and other organized programs
