The purpose of this course is to give students an understanding of the ever-changing world of business and economics and how it relates to everyone on a daily basis. Students will explore business opportunities while learning to make their own informed economic decisions. Topics that will be covered include marketing and advertisement, economics, employment, business issues, and personal business.

| This is a skill level course that is of value to students pursuing a strong background in business, marketing, and management. The course includes planned learning experiences that develop initial and basic skills used in systematically computing, classifying, recording, verifying and maintaining numerical data involved in financial and product control records including the paying and receiving of money. Instruction includes information on keeping financial records, summarizing them for convenient interpretation, and analyzing them to provide assistance to management for decision-making. Accounting computer applications will be integrated throughout the course where applicable. In addition to stressing basic fundamentals and terminology of accounting, instruction will provide and understanding of the preparation of financial reports, operation of related business machines and equipment, and career opportunities in the accounting profession. Processing employee benefits will also be included. Practice sets with business papers will be used to emphasize actual business records management. | |

| This is a skill level course that is of value to students pursuing a strong background in business, marketing, and management. It provides in-depth applications of basic skills learned in Accounting I. The course includes planned learning experiences that develop advanced skills in systematically computing, classifying, recording, verifying, and maintaining numerical data involved in financial and product control records including the paying and receiving of money. Instruction includes information on keeping financial records, summarizing them for convenient interpretation, and analyzing them to provide assistance to management for decision making. Accounting computer applications will be integrated through out the course where applicable. This is a college-prep course that provides the advanced accounting principles needed for business majors to be successful in the university setting or in a career in business utilizing accounting principles in which a formal college degree is not required. Pre-requisite is Accounting I. | |

| The course will acquaint students with graphic-design techniques, principles of page layout and design, and desktop publishing terminology and applications. Students will create a variety of documents, such as flyers, brochures, newsletters, and student business cards, using industry standards, desktop publishing software, graphics, and effective importing materials created in other software programs. Students will learn the concepts of effective document design and how these concepts assist effective communication. | This course will concentrate on the development and production of professional presentation materials. This instruction will include use of graphic design techniques, color, layout, and design principles as applied to the art of Web Page design for use on the Internet. Students will incorporate demographic research, progressive page layout, website structure, content organization, functional web page navigation, graphic imaging, techniques and effective presentation concepts to the production of a quality graphic presentation product. Students will create a variety of presentation materials, including skill application in creating and maintaining the Morrisonville CUSD web site. Topics: Adobe Photoshop, HTML, Site Central, and Microsoft FrontPage. | |
| Microsoft Office User Specialist Certification Review | Year Course |

| This course will give advanced study in using all the programs of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, as well as a review of all basic skills. Students will complete a Capstone Project as a method for review of each application. Instruction will also include the use of Microsoft Outlook organization software. At the conclusion of the course, students will take the Microsoft Office User Special (MOUS) Certification Exam and will be certified by Microsoft as having expert skills in Word and Excel, core skills in Access and Outlook, and comprehensive skills in PowerPoint. MOUS exam will be taken in Conjunction with Lincoln Land Community College. | |

| The purpose of this course will be to compile the Morrisonville High School annual, “MOHAWK”. Students enrolling in this class should have a strong background in English, art, and desktop publishing. By developing a major school publication, this practicum course provides students with hands-on experience photography, advertising, fundamentals of fundraising, utilizing principles of graphic and document design, event organization, time and deadline management. Prerequisite: Student application submitted to advisor prior to pre-registration, positive references of a majority of student’s current teachers, and a permission of the instructor. | |
