Physical Science       Year Course
Grade 9    1 Credit

An Overview of the study of chemistry and physics. Emphasis in chemistry is atomic and molecular structure, bonding, matter, density, chemical reactions, and formulas. Emphasis in physics is force, motion, waves, heat, sound, light, electricity, and magnetism.

Biology 1   Year Course
Grade 10-12     1 Credit
This course is designed to give an interaction to living things. First semester is an emphasis on the introductory chapters (1-9; Unit 1-Biological Principles & Unit 2- Cells) of Modern Biology by Holt, Rinehart, & Winston. Second Semester also includes an introduction to the classification of living things (Chapter 18) and a beginning study of the five kingdoms: (Unit 5 – Microorganisms) Monera, Fungi, and Protozoa, as well as a brief study of viruses and the Immune System. Pre- requisite is physical science.

Biology II Year Course
Grades 11-12    1 Credit
This course is designed to build on concepts studies in Biology I. This course will continue the study of the classification of living things with a concentration on the Plant kingdom (Unit 6) and the Animal kingdom (Unit 7-Invertebrates and Unit 8-Verebrates). Additional topics in biology will be addressed as time permits. Pre-requisite is Biology 1.

Environmental Science Year Course
Grades 10-12 1 Credit
Topics will include ecological interactions and ecosystems, human populations, energy, land and water resources, pollution and managing human impact on the environment. Students may take the full year course or either first or second semester alone. Pre-requisite is Physical Science.

Chemistry Year Course
Grades 11-12  1 Credit
This course is designed to introduce main concepts in chemistry such as atoms, energy, states of matter and their properties including chemical reactions, bonding, formulas, and equations. Pre-requisite is Biology 1. It is recommended that one has completed or is enrolled in Algebra II.

Physics Year Course
Grade 11-12 1 Credit
This course is designed to introduce the physical laws fundamental to all sciences.  Topics covered include motion, forces, vectors, gravity, momentum, waves, heat, sound, light, electricity, and magnetism.  Pre-requisite is Biology 1.  It is recommended that one has completed or is enrolled in Algebra 2.
