Morrisonville Community Unit School District #1 School Board Meeting Highlights
March 19, 2015 Meeting
The Morrisonville Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education met in regular session on Thursday, March 19, 2015 with all members in attendance.
Janet Walch and Lynn Cina, teachers at Morrisonville Jr/Sr High School, addressed the Board and stated their concerns regarding the possible movement of sixth grade from the elementary school to the jr/sr high school.
The Extracurricular Committee reported on upcoming meetings with representatives from South Fork and Panhandle School Districts for possible additional cooperative athletic teams due to declining numbers of participants. It was consensus to participate in the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament for the 2015-2016 high school boys basketball season. Supervision of athletic home contests will need to be reviewed due to a request for relief from some of the supervisions by the athletic director
A request installation of asphalt on some areas of the Morrisonville Elementary School playground was tabled. The Board requested at least one more bid. The project will be paid for by 0-3 and PreK grants. The areas to be asphalted will be for preschool children to be able to ride tricycles and pedal toys.
Memberships in the Illinois Elementary School Association and the Illinois High School Association were approved. The high school baseball trip to Kansas City, Missouri on May 2, 2015 and May 3, 2015 was approved.
The two-year cooperative agreement with South Fork Community Consolidated District #14 for high school football and high school girls basketball was renewed.
Board Policy 7:180 Prevention of and Response to Bullying, Intimidation, and Harassment was amended to include cyberbullying.
The 2014-2015 school calendar was amended to include March 3, 2015 as an emergency day due to icy roads.
An Intergovernmental Agreement between the school district and Regional Office of Education #10 for the Regional Safe Schools Program also known as ChrisMont was approved.
An Intergovernmental Agreement between the school district and the South East Purchasing Cooperative (SEPCO) for participation in the Joint Purchasing Program was approved.
A Resolution Reference for the Honorable Dismissal of a Professional Education Licensed (“PEL”) Employee was approved.
The resignation of Lisa Ballinger, Early Childhood teacher, was approved.
